angelo agosto fell in love with the glass blower's daughter. the woman, if you could her that, was only nineteen at the time and was irresistable to a much older angelo agosto. he was thirty-two when he met young cara and made her his wife despite the age and class difference. cara angelo loved and cared for her husband in such a great and loyal way, making him three meals a day, calling him pet named, and bearing his children. at just the age of twenty-one, cara angelo gave birth to her first child with angelo agosto, angelo agosto the second came into the world. just three years later, another child joined the family, one leonardo marcus agosto.

the two boys were close in age, personalities, and stature. had it not been for the fact that they loved each other and their family so much, they would have been enemies with their ever fighting rambuncious personalities. angelo jr. was full aggression and 100% boy whereas leo was aggressive and mellow, rambuncious and compassionate, all at the same time. the two boys weren't enemies despite the fact they were constantly fighting, pranking, and torturing one another. the boys would spit, kick, punch, and pinch one another in one of their fights. it was quite that cara agosto has to pull her young boys away from each other and hold them back from fighting.

when the first daughter was born into the agosto family, belladonna was showered with attention from every single one of her family members, but it was leo who was her guardian with angelo jr. as her main caretaker. leo found himself by belladonna's crib every day for his earliest memories and when she was a young toddler, showing her how to speak in italian, english, and beat up on their older brother. a bond was instant between the boys and their sister. the three agosto siblings were inseperable and often a force to be reckon with.

the childhood of young leo agosto was a good one. he was victorious on the school ground, spent hours in the creeks and rivers of their small italy town, and learned more in school than anyone could image. not a single memory would be tainted, saddened, or angry for leo agosto until he matured to the year in which his brother was beaten to death. the death had such a solid impact on his family. the agosto family could not take living in their small italian town any longer. the death had been such an horrid incident that it pushed the entire agosto clan to take their wine business lengths away to california. so belladonna, leo, their younger brother nico, and their parents packed up to move far far away from their comfortable home of italy.

california for leo was a place to flourish and that is just what he did. he joined the stoner clan of kids at his local high school and began partying every night. some correlated the fighting to trying to get the image of his dead brother out of his head but that wasn't it. the boy loved to party and california was a place to do that. the relationship between he and his sister also flourished with the move to california as they clung to one another with lost, confused, negative feelings after their brother's death. the agosto clan continued to grow in california as their mother had two more children, othello and bambilina. the young agosto children didn't feel the pain of their lost brother. the family as a whole was having a fresh new start – one without angelo.

after high school, leo worked at his father's vineyard and winery in california and climbed his way up the ladder. he wasn't the best of workers, he slacked off and took advantage of the fact he was boss's son. he smoked on the job and was tardy every day, but besides that he was a pretty good worker. he got the job done. angelo agosto sr. was proud of his son, until he heard about all the things leo was getting away with. he had enough. he told leo that it was his chance to shine. he would open the new winery back in st. lorenza, if he failed, he would never inherit the family business. leo was shocked by his father's abrupt decision to administer such a test to him. leo packed his belongings and took the plane ride back to st. lorenza, his childhood home. he was up for one difficult feat. he didn't know how he would do it. he could only think of one person who could help him, his sister. with bella's help, he could get the job done. leo invite bella out to co-own the vineyard and winery.
